Elite Sport and Sustainable Psychological Well-Being

There is conflicting evidence that sport plays a protective role in the development of psychopathological disorders and contributes to sustainability mental health. The aim present study was determine prevalence among elite Slovenian athletes. We were interested depression, anxiety, suicide risk, substance abuse, eating athletes both sexes individual team sports aged 18 years or older. A total 97 participated study. used PAI EDI-3 questionnaires, also included control group 90 non-athletes, matched gender age target Testing conducted 2020 2021. comparison between normative showed similar expression depressive anxious symptomatology. have more pronounced drive for thinness are expansive, self-confident, confident their abilities compared group. 14% show self-confidence point self-grandiosity. Male likely use alcohol other psychoactive substances impulsive risk-taking, while female at higher risk developing disorders. suggests as high general population. an urgent need sustainably ensure psychological well-being
